Pochin’s revealed as construction firm delivering multi-million pound BAE expansion

North West construction firm Pochin’s Ltd has been revealed as the company delivering a new 165,000 sq ft warehouse for defence giant BAE Systems.

The Cheshire-based developer was awarded a contract worth £10.8m to create new space at BAE Systems’ advanced manufacturing facility in Samlesbury, Lancashire, where it currently employs over 4,000 people.

The project includes the design and construction of a distribution warehouse and office space to be operated by Wincanton, a logistics contractor for BAE Systems.

The CEO of Pochin’s, Jim Nicholson, said: “We’re hugely proud to have secured yet another £10m contract, for one of the world’s largest defence contractors and one of the region’s biggest employers.

“The site at Samlesbury Aerodrome has huge historical importance – it has been central to advances in aeronautical engineering since the 1920s, and this project will cement its future as a centre of innovation in the sector.”

The warehouse project forms part of a larger development next to the airfield in Samlesbury and is one of five worth over £10m that Pochin’s is currently working on.
