Bolton tape manufacturer Bindatex creates jobs following £80k boost

Bindatex, the slitting and spooling company, has received a five-figure boost from the Textiles Growth Programme and created four jobs.

The Bolton firm secured a £79.8k grant from the programme with the support of the Business Growth Hub, an economic development organisation.

With the funding in place, Bindatex plans to purchase additional machinery to expand its manufacturing capabilities and expects to create a further eight new jobs over the next two years.

Chris Lever, the director at Bindatex, said: “Textiles is really coming back into the North West. Businesses are recognising the quality of British textile manufacturers, particularly in technical materials, which require highly specialised products.

“We were at a point in our growth cycle where we needed a capital injection to move further into the niche we had identified.”

He continued: “The support from the Regional Growth Fund and Business Growth Hub has been vital in ensuring our continued success with the purchase of new machinery.

“We are now in a position to meet the demands of our clients, and become the preferred supplier in the sector.”

Founded in 2004, today Bindatex works with carbon and glass fibre to create tapes for the aerospace, energy and automotive sectors. In January 2015, the firm processed its first spooling order and has since increased its European business, securing contracts with a military jet manufacturer and a helicopter firm based in Germany.

Paul Gauden, a textiles project monitor at the Business Growth Hub, which is part of the Manchester Growth Company, commented: “Textiles is an important industry for the North West, with the region historically the powerhouse of the textiles sector.

“Increasingly driven by technology, it is important for businesses such as Bindatex to be able to invest in modern equipment and machinery to help drive the growth of the industry and continue to deliver high quality products to its customers.”

Paul continued: “It is fantastic for us to see that the funding has already led to the creation of four jobs, with a further eight forecasted, supporting the continued growth of the region.”
