Record Deliveries for Barker and Stonehouse

DELIVERY drivers at Barker and Stonehouse fulfilled a record number of orders during the run-up to Christmas this year.

The team of 63 drivers delivered to more than 17,000 addresses, braving floods and snow to ensure that customers have their furniture in time for the festive break.

Drivers have clocked up the miles across the country in the past eight weeks, driving as far as Cornwall, Margate, Wales, Inverness and Oban in Scotland. The Blaydon warehouse in Gateshead has fulfilled orders to Cumbria and the Lake District on average three times a week, with drivers experiencing hazardous conditions due to flooding in the region.

The North East retailer now has five warehouses – including three in the North East in Blaydon, Eggborough and Teesside – and two more in Croydon, Greater London and Nottingham.

Mark Jinks, Warehouse Manager at the Barker and Stonehouse Middlesbrough warehouse said: “Our team of 17 drivers here on Teesside have been working flat out to get orders delivered to customers on time.”

Barker and Stonehouse’s Managing Director, James Barker, said: “This year we have seen record deliveries over this eight week period leading up to Christmas and our five warehouses and team of drivers have been incredibly busy.

“We know how important it is for customers to have their homes looking great for Christmas, and our drivers and warehouse teams have really been going the extra mile to ensure that happens.”
