Chelsea racks up highest wage bill in Premier League

Chelsea Football Club’s wage bill hit £215m in the year ended 30 June 2015 - the highest of all Premier League clubs.

According to the London club’s latest Companies House report, their wages bill shot up £25m for the period, closely followed by Manchester United and Manchester City, which paid out £203m and £193.8m respectively.

The 2015 Premier League title winners found themselves making an early exit from the Champion’s League.

The club reported a loss of £23.1m for the financial year, despite a record profit of £18.4m in 2014.

The club, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, is optimistic about Chelsea’s revenues following after a reported £40m-a-season shirt sponsorship deal.
