Datum360 delivers its Leading Software as a Service (SaaS) to BP’s Azerbaijan Category B Project
A leading global engineering information management specialist has been awarded – and has already successfully delivered – a contract to deploy its robust Software as a Service (SaaS) solution that will standardise engineering information for the largest oilfield project in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian basin.
Headquartered in the UK with offices around the globe, including Kuala Lumpur and Houston, Datum360 has been appointed the contract by BP to deliver a data warehouse to Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Guneshli (ACG) project located 100km east of Baku.
BP’s Category B projects cover three major oilfields in the Azeri sector. These oilfields span over seven platforms including Chirag, Central Azeri and Deepwater Gunashli and have transformed Azerbaijan into a major global energy supplier whilst also redefining Europe’s energy map.
Commissioned in 1997, the oilfield has been developed over several phases, with the latest in the series being the Chirag Oil Project. BP recently reported total ACG production in the first half of 2015 averaged at 641,000 barrels per day.
As part of its contract Datum360 has implemented its standard engineering data warehouse - PIM360 - which has created a central point for collecting standardised engineering information, and as such increased the company’s operational efficiency through eliminating the use of multiple software tools.
“We required a user friendly and consistent solution to bringing engineering information together and Datum360’s engineering data warehouse PIM360 does exactly that,” said Farah Mizrajanova, Azerbaijan Developments Project Information Manager at BP, “We now have one centralised approach to collecting data, which means, as a result, we have significantly increased our operational efficiency, saving us both time and money.
“Our team can now spend more time reviewing the quality and completeness of engineering information rather than wasting time manipulating the data as they have done previously.
“We have been greatly impressed by the speed in which Datum360 deployed the system. Due to the simplicity and structured approach of PIM360, the team became self-sufficient in using it within less than two weeks of deployment after a thorough knowledge transfer from the Datum360 team.”
Datum360 takes pride in its speed of deployment, implementing its economical off the shelf solution within only a matter of one week.
Speaking about the contract, Steve Wilson, Co-founder and CEO at Datum360 said: “We are extremely pleased to have delivered our SaaS in such a short space of time. Within our sectors, companies such as ours are notoriously known to have lengthy implementation from pilot stages - in some cases with implementation spanning from months into years - leaving owner operators with spiralling costs.
“We are going against the industry norm and successfully demonstrating with each contract win that we can deploy our robust, quality systems in little to no time. On top of this – once deployed - our SaaS is proven to deliver fast, accurate and reliable engineering information ensuring owner operators save time and money in asset intensive programmes.
“It is estimated that an engineer can spend up to 60% of their time moving and organising data on such projects. With our system, we have significantly reduced this time for the team at BP.”
The company’s SaaS will bring together engineering data from several contractors at project completion in a concise and succinct format. Through implementation of PIM360, BP’s project teams will benefit from extremely fast import and export of data as well as having the ability to view logged activities through an activity feed with the option to share files, documents and emails.
Established in 2009, Datum360 has a team of over 20 specialists operating across the world. They have delivered class libraries to most of the world Super Major oil companies and boast clients including Maersk Oil, Total, BP and GDF Suez (now Engie).
