Stockport businesswoman Ivy Wroe receives Responsible Capitalism Award
Stockport business woman Ivy Wroe, Managing Director of Resin Surfaces Limited (RSL), has just been awarded the prestigious SME Dahrendorf Responsible Capitalism Award for her role in developing the company’s sustainable product range.
The awards are instituted by FIRST – the multidisciplinary International Affairs organisation – and honour international business leaders who have excelled in both commercial success and social responsibility.
Entrants were judged on their responsible running of a company, their consistent demonstration of social responsibility in line with commercial success, and the interaction of the business with both the environment and its community.
Ms Wroe’s award success is founded on RSL’s strategic growth and sustainable product innovation, which she has driven despite recent economic challenges.
Today, the specialist resin floor and wall finishes manufacturer, based in Hazel Grove, offers the largest range of solvent-free, water-based specialist resin products in the UK. This composition makes them less harmful during both the manufacturing and application processes.
Ivy was presented with her award by Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Sajid Javid at a special ceremony held at Lancaster House in London. It was attended by over 300 prominent business leaders, parliamentarians and ambassadors.
She commented: “As a relatively small manufacturer, it’s often difficult to keep up with product innovation, let alone drive it, but at RSL, that’s exactly what we’re doing.
“We are now being seen as industry innovators within the resin systems marketplace. Being naturally concerned for the environment, environmental impact and sustainability is key to our decision making process.
“Needless to say, we are delighted to receive such prominent recognition with this award. It’s testament to the hard work of the RSL team, who, in partnership with our suppliers, have achieved such enviable green credentials. So a big thank you to everyone involved. Together we’ve proved that you can purposefully, passionately and profitably run a business - making a difference and leaving a legacy.”
