Warrington developer Assura delivers £4.1m Urmston scheme

Healthcare property developer Assura has completed its multi-million pound mixed-use scheme in Urmston, Greater Manchester.

The Warrington-based firm’s new building, a £4.1m centre with an on-site integrated primary care facility, was created in partnership with property company LSP Developments.

Assura project manager Paul Warwick said: “As the NHS moves towards a more integrated approach to the delivery of health and social care, the provision of intelligent premises plays a vital role in ensuring the growth of a local inter-practice network.

“The completion of the new practice now brings a multipurpose neighbourhood centre that can support primary and secondary care services in the Trafford area.”

The 11,291 sq ft facility will replace Urmston’s main practice, as well as a branch surgery located on the site of the development, and comprises a minor ops suite along with multipurpose clinical rooms for GP services and training.

The site also includes retail units and residential space to be used by Trafford Housing Trust.

The practice manager at Urmston Group Practice, Deborah Darlington, commented: “The completion of the building, including a medical centre providing modern, up to date facilities, is a splendid addition to Urmston and the wider community.”

Discussing the impact of the scheme, LSP Developments’ Phil Lilley said modernising the UK’s community practices “supports more virtual communication” and helps with transferring secondary care services to primary practices.

Speaking further, Phil said: “These measures help cut costs whilst offering a diverse spectrum of facilities for patients so we are looking forward to noting the long-term impact for Urmston.”
