New Nuffield Health Tees Hospital hospital director appointed
Nuffield Health Tees Hospital has appointed new hospital director Lesley Lock.
Former biomedical scientist Lesley has joined Nuffield Health to take forward growth plans for the not-for-profit hospital at Norton, Stockton.
She said: “These are exciting times for Nuffield Health in Teesside so I’m thrilled to be coming on board now.
“There has been huge investment in the hospital over the past year and we’re continuing to invest. I have ambitious plans for the future of the hospital and can’t wait to get started.
“We already offer a wide range of services, from diagnostic tests and scans to cosmetic procedures, with patients either privately funded or NHS referred. Plans are to extend what we’re able to provide to provide a more holistic approach to healthcare with the emphasis on prevention as well as treatment or cure.”
Lesley studied bio-medical sciences at Sunderland and Newcastle universities before joining the NHS Newcastle where she specialised in haematology and blood transfusion.
She then moved to Nuffield Health in Newcastle at pathology services manager, moving up through the ranks, before taking on a business director role at a private GP services company.
Lesley set up her own company selling Fairtrade goods before deciding to move back to the health profession.
She added: “I felt like I needed a new challenge and when I thought back on my career, the time I’d felt happiest, most fulfilled and most challenged was while I was working at the Nuffield so I set a goal to return. To come onboard as hospital director is thrilling.”
Lesley, who lives in Yarm with her husband Ben, a commercial director, and her two stepchildren, is joined at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital by another new team member, Daniel Cook, head of sales and services.
Daniel has worked for Nuffield for the past nine years, most recently in a variety of management roles with the Consumer Wellbeing division, responsible for Nuffield’s gyms.
He lives in York with his partner Tara and their 15-week-old son Tommy.
