Liverpool’s Klopp signs deal to become UK beer ambassador
Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp has signed a multi-year endorsement deal with German beer company Warsteiner.
Klopp, who joined the Reds in October last year, will be the UK face of the company’s Warsteiner Fresh brand as part of the four-year agreement.
According to Soccerex, Klopp said: “I am particularly pleased about this partnership because I associate the taste of Warsteiner with home. My grandparents owned a small brewery and I do enjoy a good beer.
“I am a German football coach and one of the ambassadors of our national sport, just like Warsteiner beer is one of the best ambassadors for the German beer tradition.”
Following the partnership, Warsteiner will launch a new campaign promoting the non-alcoholic beverage in April.
The brewing firm’s owner, Catharina Cramer, commented: “Jurgen Klopp is a perfect brand ambassador for our non-alcoholic premium beers.
“He is straightforward, authentic and close to the people. In particular, his passion is in line with our brand philosophy.”
She added: “He is a popular figure and we are thrilled that we will work together with Jurgen Klopp.”
Based just outside Warstein, a town in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia state, Warsteiner is the country’s biggest privately owned brewery.
