Rochdale-based Baker Bennett fuels growth with £60k boost
North West bakery firm Baker Bennett has expanded its product range after securing a £60k boost in the form of research and development tax relief.
The Rochdale-based firm teamed up with the Warrington office of SME tax relief company R&D Tax Claims to fuel growth and has now introduced a new range of own-brand baked goods.
The company, which has supplier deals with supermarkets Tesco, Asda and Waitrose, is headed up by entrepreneur Julie Bowmer.
As a qualified chartered accountant, Baker Bennett CEO Julie said she was aware of the reclaim opportunities available, but called on R&D Tax Claims for support after national account manager Stephen Steele introduced Pamela Cunliffe, the head of R&D’s North West division, to the business.
Julie commented: “2015 has been a positive year for myself and my businesses and Pamela’s impressive service from start to finish means we’ll start 2016 on a high.”
With the funds invested back into Baker Bennett, the company now has the capacity to produce its own-label brands of high-protein, gluten-free baked products.
Pamela said: “It was a pleasure to work with Julie and her team at Baker Bennett. This is a really exciting time for SMEs across the Northern Powerhouse, and I hope we are able to impart our 100% success rate on more local businesses in the future.”
