The Student Living Company launches in Middlesbrough

Teesside property regeneration firm, Python Properties, has launched a new business to enhance its provision for local students and meet a major increase in demand.

The Middlesbrough-based firm has launched The Student Living Company, based next to Teesside University, as the need for high quality student accommodation continues to grow thanks to buoyant student communities at Teesside University, Durham University Queen’s Campus and Newcastle University.

Python Properties has provided high quality accommodation for students since 1997 with over 6000 tenants to date. The company owns and manages all of their properties and works closely with local councils and universities to understand specific needs, offering a wide range of accommodation with various living spaces.

The Student Living Company was officially launched with a party attended by over 100 student tenants at the Purple Pig in Middlesbrough. A number of new jobs have been created with more planned for 2016.

Peter Broome, partner at The Student Living Company, said: “We decided to establish the new business because student accommodation is a rapidly growing area and we have more student tenants than ever. We want to be able to service this community to the very best standards as our local universities are all thriving.

“It’s very important to us that students get exactly what they need in the best locations to suit them, hence we work closely with universities and local councils to ascertain these requirements and this is something we are going to build on from our base at Teesside University in 2016.”

The Student Living Company has a number of accreditations including UNIPOL Accredited Landlord, Durham University Queen’s Campus Accredited Landlord, member of the National Landlord’s Association, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council Accredited Landlord and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

In addition, Python Properties works with students across the North to support a range of projects, including art showcases, by providing public exhibition space.

The company is well known for installing art galleries in its buildings which are run by its arts arm, Python Arts. There are currently two galleries in Middlesbrough- at Cargo Fleet Offices and also at Royal Middlehaven House- and two more in commercial buildings in the North West.
