Barnsley window manufacturer makes £500k investment to meet growing demand

South Yorkshire window manufacturer Building Product Solutions is investing more than half a million pounds in state-of-the-art machinery to streamline operations and increase capacity.

In order meet the demands of its growing order book, Barnsley-based BPS has spent £100k on a new Urban double stacking quad welder. The machine will improve both flexibility and accuracy on the production line, leading to shorter production times.

The company has also invested £150k in two Urban corner cleaners and two glass cutting tables.

Arriving in early 2016 is a £275k Stuga machining centre and also on order is a Stuga machining saw. These tools will help the production team to increase output, to meet the £14m currently on the business’ order book.

Ian Harrison, Building Product Solutions’ managing director, said: “This investment is just the next step of our growth plan.

“Turnover increased by 60% in the last twelve months and we don’t want to slow down, so we’ve made a real effort to invest back in to business. We’ve just opened our glass plant, recruited new staff and now new machinery will help us fulfil orders and take new ones as construction continues to boom.”

Building Product Solutions achieved a turnover of £3.5m in the past financial year. It now has £14m worth of jobs on its books after winning long-term contracts to supply major housing developers such as Persimmon, Taylor Wimpey, Gleeson and Redrow Homes.
