Crossrail gains planning approval for Farringdon offices

Crossrail has been given the go ahead for a new office development above Farringdon Crossrail station after an appeal from the Planning Inspectorate.

Construction on the planned ground floor and five storey office space, which will cover 120,000 sq ft, is expected to go ahead in 2017 once work on Farringdon Crossrail station is complete.

It is the second development above Farringdon for which Crossrail have received planning permission, joining the 187,000 sq ft Cardinal House office scheme located on the corner of Cowcross Street and Farringdon Road.

The Farringdon station will be a pivotal hub in the Crossrail project once it is complete in 2018, as it will be the only station where Crossrail, London Underground and Thameslink meet.

Upon confirmation of this second development at the station, Ian Lindsay, Land & Property Director at Crossrail said: “The Lindsey Street scheme is part of Crossrail’s plan to bring over 3 million square feet of new, high-quality office, retail and residential space to central London, and reinvest every pound made back into the project.”
