Velocity Leisure acquires Spaceworld
Velocity Leisure has acquired an 8,000 sq. ft. soft-play centre located in Prescot.
Spaceworld, which now operates under husband and wife duo Steven and Cheryl Cosgrove, will become the third venue in Velocity Leisure’s expanding portfolio alongside Velocity Trampoline Park in Widnes and Fun Town in Garston.
Managing Director of Velocity Leisure Steven Cosgrove said: “Using our extensive experience within the children’s leisure industry, we wanted to expand our offering to cater specifically for children between the ages of 0-12, providing them with a unique chance to learn through play and keep active and healthy while having fun.
“Our takeover of Spaceworld allows Velocity Leisure to continue to provide our customers with an eclectic selection of activities for all ages. The play centre itself features four zones across three tiers in which children can play and houses state of the art equipment including a 20ft climbable space rocket, 25ft spiral slide and electric space buggies – there’s certainly plenty for our guests to do.
“Unlike our other sites, Spaceworld is our first venue that caters to children under the age of one, allowing the younger budding astronauts the chance to enjoy our interactive technology, puzzles and space ranger car track.“
Husband and wife team Steven and Cheryl Cosgrove, from Calderstones, acquired Funtown in 2010 before adding Velocity Trampoline Park to their portfolio in July 2015. They currently employ 80 people across the business and are in the process of planning Velocity 2, which would increase that number to 150 employees by mid 2016.
Steven added: “As our other sites are located in Widnes and Garston, it’s great to further expand our brand and move in to another part of the city.
“Like Fun Town and Velocity Trampoline Park, Spaceworld will offer unique children’s parties but with an exciting space-themed twist. On site, there is also a restaurant serving up a wide range of delicious home-made meals, barista coffee and specialist teas, giving busy parents a well-deserved break while the kids enjoy our play centre.“
Located in Prescot Business Park, Spaceworld is open seven days a week from 9.30am to 6pm.
