Anesco named global leader in energy efficiency
Anesco, the UK’s leading energy efficiency solutions provider, has been named one of the world’s top 100 cleantech companies for a third year running.
The Global Cleantech 100 highlights the most innovative private companies that are best positioned to solve tomorrow’s clean technology challenges and to cause significant market impact. To qualify for the ranking, companies must be independent and for-profit.
Anesco was selected from a record 6,900 companies from 60 countries that were put forward for this year’s list, with the top 100 announced at a special forum held in San Francisco. The company is one of only two UK-based firms to ever be featured in the listing three years in a row.
Commenting on the ranking, Adrian Pike, Anesco CEO, said: “As a UK company, being recognised once among such a visionary group of organisations was a real pleasure, but to be recognised three years running is just fantastic. It is testament to the effort and dedication that the whole team at Anesco has applied.”
He continued: “Since it was founded, Anesco’s objective has been to drive carbon reduction through energy efficiency. This remains the company’s mission today and is something we have stuck to since day one.”
With its head office based in Reading, Berkshire, Anesco works with clients ranging from major corporations to small businesses and individuals, helping to drive carbon reduction and transform energy use. To date, the firm has helped to raise over 275,000 people out of fuel poverty and the technologies it has deployed are generating over 500MW of renewable energy.
The company was named the UK’s fastest growing private company in both 2013 and 2014 by Sunday Times Fast Track and it is recognised as one of the top 250 companies in the country.
Adrian added: “We’ve always had a strong focus on the latest innovations and continue to be first to understand new technologies and to introduce commercial models that enable our customers to improve their energy usage and save money, while helping to tackle the country’s carbon emissions.
“This includes being first to bring the ESCO model to the UK, which enables organisations to install energy efficiency measures without the need for upfront capital. Our inhouse monitoring and maintenance service Anesco Meter was the first of its kind and continues to protect investments made in renewable assets by ensuring they are running at their optimum capacity.
“We were first to deploy solar for the residential and commercial markets, while working closely with the supply chain to improve efficiency and reduce costs. And we have shaped the residential energy efficiency market, being first to take a ‘whole house’ approach.
“For over four years we have also been active in battery storage solutions and were first to install commercial and residential units in the UK on a national scale. By 2016 we expect to have more batteries installed in the UK than the rest of the market put together.”
The Global Cleantech 100 is produced by Cleantech Group, whose mission is to connect corporates to sustainable innovation through its i3 Connect platform and global events.
“The Global Cleantech 100 provides us with insight into the collective opinion of key market players on which megatrends and innovation companies are most likely to have a significant impact in the next 5-10 years,” said Michele Parad, Senior Manager at Cleantech Group and lead author of the Global Cleantech 100 Report. “Now in its 7th year, the Global Cleantech 100 program reveals which themes are staying relevant and which sectors are taking centre stage.”
