Mantra Thai dishes up plans for 2016
A Newcastle restaurant is celebrating success and setting out plans to recruit, following a successful first year in business.
The family-run Mantra Thai Restaurant, which opened in December 2014 on Forth Banks following a £600,000 investment, plans to increase its 30-strong workforce throughout 2016 to cater for its increasing popularity as one of the only authentic Thai dining eateries in the city.
Located next to Newcastle’s burgeoning Quayside, Mantra Thai owner Jeab Prapunwong also plans to introduce a bespoke event offering for the city’s business community, providing networking space for seminars and events with tailored food and drink menus to suit each occasion.
Jeab Prapunwong said: “We have had a successful first year and the ongoing regeneration of Newcastle’s Quayside has done much to bring customers over to this part of the city –even more so following the renovation works at the Stephenson Quarter and Central Station.
“We have a loyal customer base of people who are passionate about authentic Thai food and we hope to build on this in 2016, which will mean scaling up our already fantastic team of service and kitchen staff accordingly – a great position for any business to be in!
“We will also be developing our venue offer to provide an excellent environment for businesses looking for external settings – we can cater for anything from small, intimate get-togethers to events for 150 plus people.”
January will see Mantra Thai launch a new evening menu, ensuring its promise of authentic Thai dining is kept fresh for customers, in addition to a VIP loyalty card and associated discounts for its regular customers. A new Thai wine menu is set to follow in February, with revamped daytime, set lunch and take away menus set to launch in the early spring.
Jeab added: “We are excited for the year ahead as we look to make our second year in business even more prosperous than our first.”
