Popcorn giant snaps up ten-year deal at Sheffield’s Target Park
The UK’s largest independent popcorn maker and supplier to the cinema industry has acquired an entire Sheffield business park.
Tommy Tucker, which supplies popcorn and confectionary to the UK’s major cinema, retail and leisure industries, has signed a ten-year lease on more than 41,000 sq ft of warehousing at Target Park on the North Anston Trading Estate.
The move is to cater for a major surge in growth and provide further contingency to its cinema and retail customer base.
The deal, brokered by the Sheffield office of Knight Frank on behalf of Bold International Properties Ltd, sees the popcorn giant take units one and two, at 21,500 and 20,000 sq ft respectively at the 2.4 acre site.
Ben White, partner at Knight Frank, said: “The deal to let Target Park in its entirety is testament to the strength of Sheffield’s industrial offering and the healthy demand for quality units within the M1, A1 corridor.
“Tommy Tucker wanted to create room for expansion and needed excellent transport links to fulfil its requirements and the site at Target Park is ideal for its purposes. The deal is a ten year lease with a five year break clause.
“Units in this part of the country, which enjoy superb motorway links and routes out to the east coast ports, are available at nationally competitive rates, which is a massive plus for businesses looking to relocate or expand.”
Tommy Tucker acquired RJ Foods in June 2015 as part of an expansion programme, enabling it to add flapjacks and other confectionary goods to its product range.
Target Park and the North Anston Trading Estate are located in Dinnington, to the east of Sheffield, adjacent to the A57 and close to junction 31 of the M1 motorway.
David Greg, managing director at Tommy Tucker, commented: “The company is in a position to capitalise on a streamlined, logistical relocation, which enables us to consolidate several parts of our operations onto one site and to capitalise on better space for future growth.
“Maintaining a base in the M1, A1 corridor suits our operations perfectly and allows for fast access to all parts of the country respectively. And as we supply nationally, location was a prime consideration.”
The Target Park site features the two open plan warehouses which Tommy Tucker will operate out of, incorporating full height roller shutter doors and eaves heights of more than five metres, more than 3,000 sq ft of offices and a large, secure, shared yard plus car parking spaces.
