New care home manager promises new approach
A Hull-based care group has recruited a new care home manager who promises to support the current services and add to its already successful programme.
Experienced care home manager Katie Walker recently joined Woodlands residential care home in Driffield following more than 16 years in care home management.
Woodlands care home, operated by the Hica Group, has 50 residents and 50 staff, including specialist dementia care staff and a dedicated activity coordinator.
Katie, 42, from Beverley, said: “As a new manager, I want to add to the already great care put in place by the team at Woodlands.
“We believe in treating people as individuals and achieving the right balance between encouraging independence and providing care. It is important to us that Woodlands has a homely and relaxed environment and people feel comfortable and included, as well as enjoying a great quality of life through activities.
“I will be arranging more fundraising events for even more trips to residents’ favourite places. I will also support the holistic and innovative treatments for those with dementia and memory loss already put in place and look at new ways to provide these sessions.”
Katie qualified as a nurse from Pinderfields Hospital’s training programme, specialising in stroke rehabilitation, before following her passion into the care industry.
