Yorkshire clothing brand reports best quarter ever as store sales triple

A West Yorkshire-based clothing brand that exports to over a dozen countries including the USA and Australia has reported its best quarter ever - with in store sales up three-fold in the final quarter of 2015, and a 44% boost in turnover.

Ushiwear, established in 2008 by husband and wife duo Neil and Jilly Kapusi, produces a range of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and accessories; with each item hand-printed in its studio and retail store in Mirfield.

This significant increase in sales figures follows the business’ decision to invest heavily in marketing and PR, with a new website launchedin August 2015.

Ushiwear has seen a 45% increase in store sales and a 190% increase in online sales for the fourth quarter of 2015, compared to the same quarter in 2014 and more than tripled its store sales in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared to the previous quarter.

Attributing its success to the company’s investment in PR, marketing and social media, founder Jilly Kapusi said: “The past six months have been a game changer for Ushiwear. We re-launched our website in August and put a lot of time into our PR and marketing strategy as well as focusing on social media, recognising its importance for the brand.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received, particularly in the months up to Christmas and it’s wonderful to see our brand grow from strength to strength and gain loyal customers on the way.

“We are looking forward to an exciting and busy year ahead at Ushiwear, with many events already pencilled in and plan for further expansion of not only the product range but the Ushiwear team too”.

Last year the brand appointed designer Harriet McHugh, who has been working closely with Ushiwear to further develop its women’s range.

As for 2016, the business plans to open up more distribution channels within the UK and abroad as well as investing in new and additional premises, including mobile premises for events around the UK.
