Keepmoat hunts for local workforce on multi-million pound Hull scheme

Keepmoat, the housing and regeneration specialist, is now in pursuit of a Hull workforce, following the announcement of an open day to recruit local contractors for its new build housing scheme at Hawthorn Avenue East, later this week.

Work will soon be underway on the 227 property development, and Keepmoat is urging local labourers, suppliers and trainees to visit its ‘Meet the Developer’ on Wednesday 10th February to find out more information on the career prospects.

Locally-based businesses are being urged to pick up a ‘tender pack’ to bid for the millions of pounds worth of work which is available.

The new development is part of Keepmoat’s ongoing work with Hull City Council to regenerate the Newington and St Andrews area of Hull.

Working in partnership with the Council, Keepmoat is set to deliver the next phase of the regeneration project, building in excess of 1,000 new homes following the demolition of existing substandard homes.

Keepmoat was appointed the Lead Developer Partner in 2007.

Richard Short, commercial manager for Keepmoat in Yorkshire, said: “We want this new development to fully benefit the people of Hull – whether that’s through renowned hope of home ownership or enhancing local businesses and careers.

“It’s a great project to be involved in. We need everything from plasterers to cleaners and look forward to meeting everyone at the event.”

Councillor John Black, Hull City Council’s Cabinet member for housing, added: “We along with our partners, Keepmoat are working hard to deliver a range of new high-quality and energy efficient homes to meet the city’s housing need.

“Not only does this programme provide the much-needed affordable housing, but also offers long-term training and job opportunities for our local and skilled workforce, which is crucial for a thriving city like Hull and part of our City Plan ambitions.

“The open day offers local people and businesses the chance to be part of the next stage in this exciting development.”
