Wakefield Wildcats’ Belle Vue Stadium for sale with £600k price tag
Belle Vue Stadium, the official home of rugby team Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, has hit the market for an asking price of offers in the region of £600k.
The Leeds office of Chartered surveyor and property consultancy Sanderson Weatherall has been instructed to sell the 120-year old stadium on behalf of the Fixed Charge Receiver of the property.
Belle Vue comprises a 5.8 acre site located on Doncaster Road, one mile south of Wakefield city centre, and has been home to the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats since the late 1800’s.
The stadium is being offered as a freehold investment subject to a lease to the rugby club.
A new five year lease agreement was reached following Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ success in ‘The Million Pound Game’ play off at the end of the 2015 season, which secured the club’s Super League status for the current season.
Neil Bestwick, a partner in Sanderson Weatherall’s Asset Advisory & Recovery team said: “This is an excellent opportunity to acquire this well-known stadium with centuries of heritage. There has been much speculation as to where the club would play its rugby in 2016 and beyond and we are pleased to have been able to agree revised lease terms on behalf of our client resulting in the club’s commitment to this venue going forward.”
With a capacity of 7,236, the stadium includes a mix of covered and open seating along with terraced spectator areas. In addition, the main clubhouse provides a range of accommodation over two floors, including hospitality and conference rooms, offices, changing rooms and ancillary facilities.
