Contractor chosen for £11m work at St James’ Smithfield Square development
St James Group’s new Smithfield Square development in Haringey has taken a step closer to completion with the confirmation of Box and Charnock as a major contractor on the site.
The Bedford-based building services firm will provide mechanical and electrical work for the new development as part of an £11m contract. This includes the addition of a new energy centre, plumbing, heating, ventilation and electrics.
The 5.25 acre site, which sits at the foot of Alexandra Palace Park, is to be built on the derelict Hornsey Depot site and will comprise of 440 apartments, a Sainsbury’s supermarket as well as retail and commercial space.
Commercial Director at St James Group,Steve Dickinson, commented: “We were impressed by Box & Charnock’s ‘can do’ approach and attention to detail. They are a good fit with our business in terms of management style and project delivery and we are looking forward to developing our working relationship with them at the Smithfield Square development.”

Work is due to commence this month with a projected completion date of April 2018.
