UCLan to strengthen community links with new Preston shop
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is taking steps to bolster its links with people in Preston with the launch of a new city centre shop.
The hub, set to open on Lune Street in the former Britannia Building Society property, will hold exhibitions and provide business services, in addition to offering science clubs and legal advice workshops.
Ahead of the launch of the In the City shop, the site will undergo “significant” refurbishment, according to the university.
UCLan’s head of communications and engagement, Dr Jo Heaton-Marriott, is working on the scheme.
She said: “UCLan is committed to developing strong links and partnerships with the local community and our In the City shop will be a melting pot for new ideas and initiatives which can really drive our city forward.
“The new facility will be open-access and most sessions will be run free of charge.”
The In the City shop is expected to open by the end of March.
