Businessman buys third franchise for ten year anniversary
A Cheshire-based businessman has celebrated his tenth year in operation by purchasing a contract cleaning franchise as it looks to expand.
Mark Owen, the managing director of two locally operated franchises, launched his first business in 2006 and took the decision to purchase a further franchise after it was put up for sale by neighbouring franchisees. ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Chester and Wrexham provides office and industrial cleaning services across the region. To manage the operation, Mark employed local businesswomen, Lorna Taylor.
Mark said: “We already own and operate two other franchises under the same franchisor so we are aware of the potential the office cleaning business has. I brought Lorna in with her expertise in management to run the contract cleaning operation and we have big plans for the business.”
Lorna, division manager for ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services Chester and Wrexham added: “It’s an exciting time to be part of this organisation. The contract cleaning business has the potential to be turning over upwards of £2 million per year and as we expand, so will our workforce. Our aim is to bring more local employment opportunities to Chester and Wrexham.”
Mark’s other franchises include ServiceMaster Clean, which operates between Stoke and Chester, providing professional commercial and residential floor cleaning and maintenance and disaster restoration works following property floods and accidental damage; and furniture restoration firm Furniture Medic. Both businesses are part of one of the longest established franchisors in the UK, ServiceMaster Limited, based in Leicester.
Guy Strang, brand operations manager for ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services UK added: “The operation in Chester and Wrexham is a healthy business with a number of long-established customers and in the right hands, can grow to be one of our top franchises. Mark’s business knowledge and Lorna’s passion to succeed is fantastic to see and a winning combination.”
ServiceMaster first launched in the UK in 1959 and currently has over 350 franchisees.
