Hica Group invests in Hull care home

A Hull based care group has announced new management as part of a significant investment into one of its leading homes.

Experienced care home manager Mildred Olweny-Myers has been appointed manager of Hull based Wilton Lodge, operated by The Hica Group, following recent investment into staff training and a widespread refurbishment.

Mildred joins Wilton Lodge with 10 years of experience in the care industry and a range of qualifications to support her role, including a level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social care, NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, a BA in Management and Marketing and a HND in Business Management. Mildred is also a ‘dignity champion’ following study in Leadership in Compassionate Dementia Care.

Mildred, 43 from Hull, said: “I have a passion to help and care for others and I strongly share the ethos of The Hica Group on providing the highest level of specialist dementia care.

“As manager of Wilton Lodge, I will encourage even stronger links with the community to continue a high standard of recreational activities and opportunities to remain integrated within the local area, which we feel is very important.”

Wilton Lodge care home, based on Holderness Road, has 40 residents and 52 staff, including specialist dementia care staff and a dedicated activity coordinator.

Penni Brown, chief executive at The Hica Group said: “We are delighted to have attracted someone of Mildred’s skills and experience to Wilton Lodge, especially at such a key time of investment and development for the home. We have recently invested heavily in staff training and look forward to continuing that with the assistance of Mildred.”

The Hica Group is a not for profit organisation, which operates a portfolio of 20 residential care homes, five of which are for people with a learning disability, along with two retirement villages. The company also runs a home care service providing approximately 11,500 hours of support and care from four regional offices in the North of England.
