US health tech firm ConcertCare to establish UK HQ in Liverpool
A US technology firm is set to establish its UK headquarters in Liverpool after the city’s Mayor, Joe Anderson, secured ties with the company during a trade mission last year.
The CEO of Alabama-based medical technology business ConcertCare, Tanveer Patel, is in the city this week to discuss the plans for the new office with the inward investment agency Invest Liverpool.
Tanveer first met the Mayor and representatives of Invest Liverpool last October, when a delegation travelled to Birmingham, Alabama, to sign an economic twinning agreement.
Commenting on the decision to expand in the UK via Liverpool, Tanveer said: “Our choice of Liverpool is a direct consequence of that trip last year and of the twinning agreement.
“The Invest Liverpool team and the Mayor’s office presented a compelling rationale as to why we should choose Liverpool as our UK base.”
She continued: “We’re a rapidly growing business and anticipate doubling our staff numbers year on year.
“We’re currently running at a headcount of about 60 but plan aggressive investment and growth over the next five years. Liverpool can and will play a key role in that.”
Speaking further, Tanveer said her visit in Liverpool this week is “about renewing old relationships and forging new ones”, potentially strengthening the company’s expansion strategy.
Mayor Anderson commented: “Reaching out to potential overseas investors is a critical part of our city’s growth strategy and it is hugely encouraging to see that activity begin to reap rewards so quickly.
“ConcertCare is exactly the kind of high value business which we wish to see in the city, operating at the cutting edge of technology in an area of huge growth potential.”
A provider of integrated technology and consultancy services for the health sector, ConcertCare works with practitioners to boost efficiency and enhance patient outcomes. The company already has agreements in place with one of the US’ biggest healthcare providers, and with the third biggest in India through its Indian office.
The director at Invest Liverpool, Ellen Cutler, said: “Liverpool’s relatively low cost base and its talent pool are key selling points as we target international businesses.
“Two of the city’s strongest assets – the health/life sciences and digital/creative sectors – are key reasons why Liverpool is an attractive location for ConcertCare.
She continued: “We have globally recognised university research excellence in terms of life sciences, world leading innovation and the second fastest growing tech cluster in the UK with a strong talent pipeline.”
