Denton firm HFL:CDM reports “successful start” with £500k in contract wins

Denton-based construction design and management safety firm HFL:CDM has secured £500k worth of contracts over the last six months, despite only launching in 2015.

The company, which is part of Haden Freeman Engineering Group, has recruited seven new members of staff since last summer, bringing its employee count to 10.

HFL:CDM was established last year in response to new construction design and management (CDM) regulations, which make the individual responsible for undertaking a construction or engineering project accountable for health, safety and welfare.

Ian Dunkley, the firm’s project director, said: “The health and safety changes have had a significant impact on those undertaking projects in construction, engineering and the process industries, and we’ve been working hard to make sure those affected really understand their duties when it comes to CDM, as well as the potential consequences of not having the right processes and individuals in place to oversee health and safety.

“We established HFL:CDM following the changes to these regulations, and the resulting increase in demand for CDM advice and services within the construction and process industries.”

He continued: “We have since experienced an extremely successful start, securing a variety of projects with a number of clients in the chemical, petro-chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. We are looking forward to further growth, building on this initial success.”

HFL:CDM now counts Teesside-based biopharmaceutical business Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies and manufacturer Geo Speciality Chemicals among its clients.
