DT&G relocation opens doors to new export markets
DT&G Limited has opened its new manufacturing premises in Wirral, a move that is set to increase exporting volumes for the engineering company.
DT&G Limited, which supplies and manufactures chocolate coating and polishing technologies, currently exports 86% of its manufactured goods to countries such as USA, Venezuela, India, Malaysia, Iceland, Ukraine and Jordan.
However by relocating to the HQ in Bromborough, it enables the business to move forward with expansion plans and to target new customers in both the UK and overseas markets.
Driving the business forward is Managing Director, Lyn Pitt, who said, “We have been working hard to get where we are today, and I am confident that our new premises will provide the infrastructure catalyst for DT&G to innovate whilst cementing our ‘best in class’ position.
“Our new facilities will also allow us to design, prototype, test and bring to market new machines in response to current and rising demand from overseas customers in both confectionery and non-confectionery industries, and will increase our customer sales and market share.”
The new manufacturing and engineering area includes a test rig, clean room and a demonstration room, all of which will not only increase levels of quality control, also allow DT&G to host potential overseas and UK customers to give them the opportunity to see the FINN machines in operation.
DTG FINN is the brand of DTG Engineering Ltd, a company with a 50-year pedigree of excellence in the design, manufacture and supply of confectionery equipment, together with quality manufacturing solutions for many other industries.
Lyn Pitt added, “We produce two main types of machines in Wirral which are exported around to companies worldwide. These are Finn Belt Coaters and Finn Polishers. Our polishers have been developed to run in conjunction with the Finn Belt Coaters, so both coating and polishing operations can take place simultaneously, and widely accepted as the leading chocolate finishing treatment.”
Paula Basnett, CEO of Wirral Chamber of Commerce, “Lyn and her team are a fantastic example of the manufacturing expertise and innovation which we have in Wirral. This new facility will now complement and enhance DT&G’s already strong links to overseas markets and also enable it to focus on developing its core product lines and develop new processes to meet demand.
She added, “One of the Chamber’s key objectives is to increase productivity and business to overseas markets, and DT&G Limited is a valued member of the Chamber of Commerce and we will be delighted to support its future growth both nationally and internationally.”
This view was echoed by Cllr Phil Davies, Leader of Wirral Council, “For more than 50 years DTG Engineering has held a market-leading presence in Wirral. I am delighted that as the business continues to grow, they have chosen to stay in the borough and secure local jobs.
He added, “As the local authority, we are keen to attract new investment to Wirral to help grow our economy, but there is a special pride we all share when we see one of our own local firms doing so well. Congratulations to DTG Engineering and the team who are proving Wirral is a place businesses choose to invest and thrive.”
Alison McGovern MP (Wirral South) commented, “It was a pleasure to attend the opening of DT&G Limited and to welcome the company to Bromborough. With such a fine record in exporting goods overseas, the work of DT&G is something I will be very happy to encourage. I wish the business every success in the future and it is very exciting news that they have secured their engineering expertise and innovation in Bromborough.”
The original Finn Belt Coater was produced in 1962, formerly owned and operated by Frank Finn, who also was present at the official opening ceremony. Today, with hundreds of Finn belt coaters in reliable daily operation globally, DT & G Limited Finn continues to set the standard in belt coating technology with machines that increase production and lower the man hours in panning environments.
Finn belt coaters are used to cover various centres with chocolate, yoghurt or chocolate-flavoured compounds all over the world.
