Recruiters Enhance Employability of Yorkshire’s Students
Leeds-based recruitment consultancy, Corecom Consulting, has launched a new event aimed at improving the employability prospects of students across Yorkshire.
GradBoss was launched last week and sparked interest from a number of IT students at Leeds Beckett University, University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield and University of York. The student networking event enticed 22 attendees to learn from reputable IT professionals who shared experiences and educated students on real life working practices.
Industry experts presented to IT students on various topics including Software Testing, Mobile App Development and the benefits of constructing a creative portfolio, showcasing skills and previous work to potential future employers.
Jonathan Sanderson, Director of Corecom Consulting said:
“GradBoss is a fantastic opportunity for students to speak with potential employers, ask for advice and gain precious insights into what is expected when going into work straight from university.”
Lewis Ford, student and President of Leeds Beckett University’s Computing Society said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with inspiring IT Directors who shared their experiences with us at GradBoss, it has given me invaluable insights into what the IT world has in store for me outside of university. I would certainly recommend GradBoss to other members of Leeds Beckett CompSoc, and to any students interested in IT.”
Anthony Main, Managing Director at The Distance, a local Yorkshire employer of IT students, said:
“GradBoss was a great chance to network and engage with students who are interested in pursuing a career in IT. As an employer it was enjoyable to be able to share my experiences in IT with young and aspiring computer fanatics and inspire students into working in the tech industry.”
Following the success of the student networking event, Corecom Consulting is set to launch another GradBoss event later this year, providing students with further employment advice, professional networks and increased knowledge of the IT sector. GradBoss is the first of its kind in Yorkshire and has given students precious insights into various IT markets, including Software Testing and App Development. IT students now have the knowledge to enhance their employability by constructing an online creative portfolio to display their skills to potential employers. The networking experience, connections and contacts made at this event will go a long way in improving employment prospects in the future.
