Planning permission approved for redevelopment of New Scotland Yard Headquarters
Property developers Northacre PLC have had planning permission approved for their Ten Broadway development on the current site of the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police.
The firm announced the granting of planning permission by Westminster City Council for the new mixed-use scheme, which totals 1.7 acres, to the stock exchange this morning.
The plans, which have been designed by architects Squire and Partners, will see the construction of six buildings housing residential, office and retail space along with a public area.
Niccolo Barattieri di san Pietro, Chief Executive Officer of Northacre commented: “Ten Broadway will be a landmark mixed-use scheme of one million square feet, nestled between the historic attractions of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.
The development is set to complete in 2021 and will feature six architecturally striking buildings, which will each offer outstanding views. The design has been carefully considered to incorporate materials sympathetic to the sandstone and brick of the area.
“We are very proud to have been awarded planning permission for this scheme and look forward to starting work on creating an exciting new destination for Westminster.”
Murray Levinson, Partner at Squire and Partners, believes the development is in-keeping with the local area thanks to its ‘use of materials sympathetic to the area’.
He added: “As a whole, the development expresses a transition between the historic development to the north and the more contemporary architecture along Victoria Street, whilst providing exemplary accommodation for local residents and businesses.”
