Former employees acquire Bury Denture Clinic with six-figure funding

Two employees at a dental practice in Bury have bought the firm with a six-figure funding package from Yorkshire Bank.

Simon Jackson and Karle Hopkinson, who together have more than 50 years’ experience at Bury Denture Clinic, decided to buy the practice from their employer, Anthony Irvine, who wished to retire from the day-to-day running of the company.

Following the acquisition, Anthony will continue to work with the clinic as a freelance clinical technician, conducting home visits in addition to working on site.

Commenting on the funding support, which makes the new owners 50:50 shareholders, Karle said: “Yorkshire Bank provided exactly what we were looking for.

“We are a very personable business and the team at the bank operates in the same way, helping make our transition from employees to business-owners very seamless.”

Yorkshire Bank relationship manager Lee Blainey arranged the funding package, which provided Simon and Karle with 100% of the purchase price.

Bury Denture Clinic was founded in 1979 as Bury Dental 2000 and today employs a team of nine. Located on the outskirts of Bury town centre, the business’ services focus manufacturing and repairing dentures, mouthguards and retainers.

The head of Yorkshire Bank’s Manchester-based Business and Private Banking Centre, Sean Williams, said: “Bury Denture Clinic is a well-known business in the local community and we are proud to have provided our full support to assist Karle and Simon in purchasing the laboratory.

“We have no doubt they will continue to take the company from strength to strength bringing in new customers while retaining the experience of the previous owner who will remain part of the team.”

He added: “As economic conditions continue to improve, Yorkshire Bank remains focused on supporting the growth ambitions of businesses in the North West.”
