Money keeps rolling in for Hauxley

Northumberland Wildlife Trust has received three grants totalling £37,500 for the interior fit-out of its new Hauxley Wildlife Discovery which is part of the Trust’s larger Heritage Lottery Fund funded Dynamic Druridge Project and due for completion later this year.

The Foyle Foundation, based in London, has awarded £25,000, whilst The Sir James Knott Trust, which supports community projects in Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and Country Durham, has granted us £10,000 and The Joicey Trust has granted us £2,500.

Work on the fit-out of the interior has started, and the public can follow its progress at https://www.facebook.com/HauxleyNatureReserve alternatively, you can attend one of the public open days and see how the build is progressing for yourself. Meanwhile, the main structure of the building is complete, the roof is on and the locally grown turf is on top of it and starting to grow! It’s amazing to believe that a little over five months ago, volunteers were starting to move the straw bales (which form the main body of the walls) into place.
