SteelPhalt adds strength to new community sports facilities
ROTHERHAM road surface specialist SteelPhalt is giving its expertise to a major new project to provide the families of Kiveton Park with new spots facilities.
Work has now started on the Kiveton Park and Wales Community Development Trust’s new 3G All Weather sports facility.
The pitch will be the first in the country to use the Profit Mastermax 60 artificial grass system, developed and manufactured by Lano.
And Steelphalt are making a major contribution to the project, supplying asphalt materials for drainage and support of the 4G football pitch and also for the new footpaths around the site.
The company is also using its network of suppliers to source and provide new goals and nets for the pitch.
“We are a local company that prides itself on its place in the heart of the community,” said SteelPhalt Commercial Manager Dean Raynor.
“When we were approached by Kiveton Park and Wales Community Development Trust we were delighted to be able to offer our support in any way possible to make their dream of outstanding new facilities a reality.
“Now the project is well under way and our product will help make a real difference to the long term success of the scheme.”
The SteelPhalt plant in Sheffield Road, Rotherham - part of the Harsco group of companies - converts steel slag into a surface course for road making.
It achieves high skid resistance - enhancing road safety for both drivers and pedestrians - and maintains it throughout the whole life of the road, also avoiding the use of quarried materials and the landfill of residual slag product.
The exceptional strength and durability of steel slag extends the life of the road and lengthens road maintenance intervals for resurfacing.
The company’s products include SteelStop, SteelSurf, SteelPave and SteelFlow.
