Expansion plans in place following strong start for Rotherham estate agents

After opening for business in August 2015, the Rotherham branch of Eadon Lockwood and Riddle Estate Agents has reported a very strong start; having already expanded its premises and is now on the lookout for more sales staff.

ELR (Rotherham), based on Bawtry Road, Wickersley, is the sixth branch in the ELR network. The company has been selling homes in the region for over 175 years.

Established in 1840, the family name continues in the current business, with Nick Riddle (FRICS) as the company’s resident Chartered Surveyor and Auctioneer.

Nick, who has had over 20 years’ experience in the role, said: “Even in the relatively short period of time that I’ve been involved in the business, I’ve seen many significant changes and although we have become more reliant on technology and the power of the internet, estate agency remains very much a ‘people’ business.

“Selling your home can be one of the most important transactions you will ever make, and having experienced property professionals on hand to guide you through an often complex process, is paramount to achieving a smooth and stress free move”.

The Rotherham branch already has three members of staff, including a mortgage arranger, but director Richard Badger is looking to strengthen the team.

Richard added: “There are sure signs that the market is starting to warm up, and we need to be prepared for the traditionally stronger early Spring / Summer market.

“In the first six months of opening, we are around 20% above our anticipated sales levels and buyers are plentiful, especially in the lower to middle price brackets (£100k-£250k). At present we have more registered buyers than available stock, so we’re keen to bring more houses to the market in order to satisfy growing demand”.
