Caulmert continues long-term work with Viridor with framework contract win
Fast-growing planning consultancy Caulmert has won a contract to support one of Europe’s leading recycling and environmental companies.
The three-year appointment to supply engineering consultancy services to Viridor follows completed work worth more than £1m over the last seven years.
Viridor, a specialist in recycling, renewable energy and sustainable waste services, has named Caulmert alongside Jacobs and Amec Foster Wheeler on the framework.
The deal continues a long-running relationship between the companies. Viridor was Caulmert’s first ever customer in 2009, with a contract to provide professional services for an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant in Beddington, Croydon.
The framework contract continues employee-owned Caulmert’s significant recent growth. The company doubled its turnover to more than £2m over the last year, and is looking to increase its workforce by around 20 per cent in 2016.
Caulmert’s current project for Viridor is for a covered storage area at a material recovery facility in Crayford, London.
Recent work includes planning provisions for drainage at Viridor’s plants in Corby, Northamptonshire and Enstone, Oxfordshire, a recyclate bale storage facility at the materials recovery facility in Arundel, West Sussex, and planning applications for the Rochester advanced plastics recovery facility in Kent.
Caulmert’s managing director and founder Mike Caulfield said: “It’s fantastic that we’re listed alongside some of the biggest names in the engineering sector on this framework.
“Caulmert has come a long way since its first piece of work for Viridor in 2009, and I’m looking forward to continuing to support its work across the UK.
Viridor is one of the UK’s leading specialists in recycling, renewable energy and sustainable waste services. It operates more than 320 recycling, renewable energy and sustainable waste facilities in the UK.
Its NEC3 (new engineering contract) framework includes project management, engineering and advisory projects over the next three years.
Head of recycling projects delivery at Viridor Ian Crofts said: “Caulmert has some fantastic staff that you can rely on. Consultants are only ever as good as their team, and we trust Caulmert to assist us in the delvery of our projects.
“Caulmert has historically worked on numerous successful projects with us, in particular as a consultant on our operational projects, and we look forward to working with them towards future successful projects under the framework.”
Founded in 2009, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious 15-year growth plan that would see it employ 250 people by 2024. Its expertise in a variety of planning, environmental and engineering disciplines is supported by its use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to a level 2 standard in many of its projects.
