York’s Fight Fit Combat Fitness helps cancer charity

Fight Fit Combat Fitness, a group fitness company in York, has raised £812 for charity York Against Cancer after hooking up with local businesses to host a prize raffle.

At the launch of its new weekly class at Millthorpe School on Thursday 25 February – which saw more than 80 people take part - Fight Fit Combat Fitness hosted a prize raffle to raise money for the charity, which provides practical help and support for patients and their families living with cancer in York and North Yorkshire.

Prizes donated by local businesses included a cut & blow dry at York’s award-winning city centre salon BLUE Hairdressing, a free MOT & Service at York Road Garage in Wilberfoss, a meal for two at Ate O’Clock Restaurant on High Ousegate and a dance & stage child placement, worth more than £200, at Razzamataz Theatre School in York.

Other prizes up for grabs, included five personal training sessions with Fight Fit Combat Fitness, a three-hour house clean with Trustworthy House Cleaning Services and a sports massage with Salon 33.

Ben Robinson, co-founder and director at Fight Fit Combat Fitness, said: “Since launching our first class in Wheldrake Village Hall four years ago, Fight Fit Combat Fitness has evolved into a wonderful fitness community. Many people who attend our classes run their own successful businesses and we knew that everyone would want to get involved in our charity raffle.”

“We wanted to raise money for York Against Cancer as it is a cause very close to our hearts and, unfortunately, many other people’s too. We’re thrilled to have raised lots of funds towards this important charity.”

82 people attended Fight Fit Combat Fitness’s new group fitness class at Millthorpe School in the heart of the South Bank area of York - aimed at men and women of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels.
