York developer secures planning for new Hotel du Vin
S Harrison, the York-based development firm, has secured planning permission to transform two Georgian listed buildings into a Hotel du Vin in the centre of Stratford upon Avon.
Facilities at the hotel will include 48 luxurious bedrooms, bistro, meeting and private dining rooms as well as a separate banqueting room.
The development will be in keeping with the Grade-II listed status of the buildings and will be undertaken in partnership with Stratford Town Trust, which owns the Rother Street buildings.
S Harrison will now start further site investigation work almost immediately with construction work commencing in spring 2016. The hotel will open in summer 2017.
Chris Hale, design manager for S Harrison, added: “We’re delighted to have been given the go-ahead to create a truly exceptional hotel and bistro in the heart of Stratford.
“This scheme is the result of three years of partnership work between S Harrison, Stratford Town Trust, Hotel du Vin and council officers. The response to our proposals has been overwhelmingly positive and there’s no doubt this development will be a welcome addition to the Rother Street community and Stratford upon Avon’s economy as a whole.”
He added: “This prestigious project also further enhances our reputation as a national development company.
“Although we remain heavily involved in a wide range of projects throughout our Yorkshire heartland, we’re increasingly enjoying successes and winning work further afield. As a result, we’re actively involved in projects in areas such as Newcastle and Edinburgh, where clients have been attracted by our tenacious and forward thinking approach and our solid, longstanding reputation in the development sector, which is a wonderful endorsement for our work.”
