Amec Foster Wheeler secures £125m BP contract

Cheshire-headquartered Amec Foster Wheeler have announced that it has been awarded a lucrative £125m engineering contract with BP.

The deal, which was awarded as part of a global agreement with the oil and gas company, will see the Knutsford company building a new refrigeration plant at BP’s Refrigerated Liquid Petroleum Gas (RLPG) site in Grangemouth, Scotland.

Comprising part of BP’s Chilldown Project, Amec Foster Wheeler will provide engineering, installation, project, construction and supply chain management services as it brings the site in line with EU regulations.

It follows a number of big deals for the Cheshire company in the last few weeks, including a £130m contract with the US Army.

John Pearson, Group President Northern Europe & CIS, commented: “We’re delighted to be supporting BP with this important contract which is vital for maintaining North Sea operations.

“This contract is a great example of how we are using our leading brownfield and onshore engineering experience and expertise to deliver the best solution for our client.

“We have been working with BP at Grangemouth since the 1970s and look forward to providing them with continued safe and efficient operations.”
