Barnsley tech business moves into former NatWest branch with bank’s support
A Barnsley-based specialist technology business has moved into a former NatWest branch with support from the bank.
IT Desk decided to relocate following staff increases, selecting the former NatWest branch on Barnsley Road in Goldthorpe.
At 2,500 sq ft, the building is over twice the size of the tech business’ old offices and has undergone refurbishment work.
The building closed as a bank several years ago.
Chris Wright, IT Desk’s managing director, said: “The move has made a massive difference to us – giving us space to grow. We were based in a high street shop unit so the new location offers us more professional looking premises.”
Founded in 2006, IT Desk’s main customer base is in the precision engineering sector but the business also has customers in healthcare, insurance and recruitment.
Chris added: “We are based in an area which is rich in engineering and this has very much become our niche market. Our clients like the fact that we offer a bespoke service and take the time to understand their business and that we are always on hand to help out with their IT issues.
“A lot of our work has come through recommendation and we now have clients from as far afield as far south as Kent and as far north as Fife.
“Due to our exponential growth since setting-up our business, it’s great to move into bigger and better offices. The move will now give us a platform for continued growth over the next couple of years.”
IT Desk specialises in proactive IT support including remote monitoring of IT systems 24 hours a day. The service allows the company to respond to problems promptly and sort out any issues over the phone, via remote assistance or through on-site support.
In addition, IT Desk also offers an overnight maintenance process which provides essential support when the systems are not in use.
When the time came to obtain a loan to support the move, Chris and his commercial director, Steve Harper, turned to NatWest relationship manager Gavin Senior for support.
Steve commented: “Gavin has been very good to work with offering excellent advice and support, and we know we can count on his expertise.”
Gavin said: “I was delighted to support IT Desk with its move to new premises. The business continues to grow and the management team have a clear vision for the firm’s future and I wish them every success in achieving their business aspirations.”
