Local professionals in spotlight at Media Centre event

In partnership with The Media Centre, the Huddersfield Literature Festival takes over PechaKucha Night, a free event on Tuesday 8th March, for an evening of fast-paced discussion and storytelling.

Curated by The Huddersfield Literature Festival – now in its tenth year – a programme of ten writers and local professionals will have 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide to present their anecdotal experiences of writing.

Acclaimed novelists, a social media expert and a solicitor are just some of the speakers set to tell their story at The Media Centre on the night. Some presentations will be personal, while others will include hints and tips about getting into writing or improving creative skills.

The evening of storytelling will be steered by Jim Woodhead, a member of the festival’s committee and owner of A for Agency, a digital marketing and acquisition agency.

Every year, the Huddersfield Literature Festival hosts a programme of innovative events designed to support new and established writers throughout the community. It offers opportunities for local people to discuss literature, through workshops, lectures, comedy sessions, LGBT events and performance poetry. Encouraging participation, festival director Michelle Hodgson said: ’‘We are excited to bring PechaKucha to the Literature Festival. It’s an entertaining way for both novice and experienced writers to gain inspiration and network with other people from the world of writing. Our speakers are all very different, making each presentation like ‘a box of chocolates’!’

“This is a great opportunity to hear personal experiences, gain industry insight and pick up a few tips. Will our speakers fulfil the 20 slides of 20 seconds challenge? Come and find out for yourself!”

The event is free, but advanced booking is advised. Visit: www.litfest.org.uk www.pechakucha-huddersfield.com
