Bolton woes latest: Trotters secure third and final High Court reprieve

Bolton Wanderers have returned to the High Court today (March 7) over a winding up petition from HMRC regarding an unpaid tax bill.

The crisis-hit Trotters have twice been granted additional time to raise enough cash to settle the amount owed, which is around £3m, according to BBC Sport.

Last month, Bolton secured a £7.5m takeover deal led by former striker led by former striker Dean Holdsworth, which followed another transaction invlolving the sale of the club’s Euxton training ground.

According to BBC Sport, While a third adjournment has been given at today’s High Court hearing, BBC Sport has reported that it will be the club’s last.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Bolton Wanderers can announce that the club has been granted a third and final adjournment of 14 days by the High Court at today’s hearing in respect of the winding up petition in order to allow the owner to complete a sale of the controlling interest in the club.

“The club have received conditional approval to the transfer of ownership from the Football League.”

It continued: “The board would again like to thank all staff at the club for their loyalty and unfaltering commitment to the cause through this incredibly difficult period.”
