Woolwich transformation continues apace with new Hare Street flats

Planning approval has been granted from the Royal Borough of Greenwich for a new 16 flat development by the Woolwich Arsenal Estate.

The new development, which is housed in Scottley House on Hare Street, will include seven one-bedroom and three two-bedroom flats, along with a further six new flats to be developed throughout 2016.

It is part of a wider transformation of Woolwich ahead of the opening of Woolwich Crossrail station which it is hoped will provide a significant economic boost to the area.

Councillor Danny Thorpe, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport at the Royal Borough, commented: “Woolwich is currently undergoing a huge regeneration scheme that will see new homes, infrastructure, businesses and, of course, the arrival of Crossrail in the near future.

“Creating more places to live at the heart of the community only helps increase the vibrancy and sustainability of the town centre and our local economy.

“The supply of affordable housing is a key offer for keeping both local residents and attracting new ones to the borough and I look forward to seeing these new homes completed.”

The Woolwich Arsenal Estate comprises over 350,000 sq ft of retail and leisure spaces in the town centre of Woolwich, and includes over 60 apartments totalling 42,000 sq ft.
