Leeds building solution firm undergoes significant expansion

Projex Building Solutions has relocated into new, larger premises at Brewery Wharf in Leeds, and welcomed five new appointments.

This significant expansion comes after the project management and cost consultancy secured a number of major contracts wins.

A new appointment by Land Securities to advise on its 65,000 sq ft leisure extension to the White Rose Shopping Centre is part of £300m worth of live developments across the UK that Projex will deliver for a range of clients in the next two years.

The extension to the White Rose Centre will include an 11-screen Cineworld Cinema with Imax technology as well as six new restaurants. Projex also works with Land Securities on a range of asset management contracts involving its other retail schemes across the UK, including Trinity.

The Projex Leeds office has also been boosted by a number of new appointments.

Mark Gayton joins as associate director following nine years with Malcolm Hollis, and building surveyor Adam Reay also joins from Malcolm Hollis. Furthermore, senior quantity surveyor Joanna Hawkins-Spencer joins from Mace, and as part of the company’s ongoing graduate recruitment programme, Alex Pearce joins from Northumbria University.

Linden Jenkins joins the administration team from Watts and Co where she was office manager.

Projex has grown its headcount from an initial four in 2008 to 30 and is expecting to make further additions this year in all three of its offices in Leeds, London and Solihull.

The company is advising on some of the UK’s newest retail and leisure developments and a collaborative project with Costa Coffee to launch the UK’s first zero energy coffee shop recently received the Judges Supreme Award at the UK Energy Awards, as well as the Sustainability Award at the British Council of Shopping Centres.

Paul Brewer, Projex’s director, said: “We are delighted to welcome these new members of staff at such an exciting time for Projex, which is seen by clients as an entrepreneurial and ambitious consultancy.

“We believe we are uniquely placed to provide the combination of strategic advice and practical experience of major project delivery to clients across the country and in a wide range of sectors.”
