Japanese architects to work with Catalan company to remodel Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium
Japanese architecture firm Nikken Sekkei has submitted a joint bid alongside a Catalan studio to reshape FC Barcelona’s Nou Camp Stadium.
One of the world’s most famous sporting stadia, the ground has a current capacity of 99,354. Already Europe’s biggest stadium, the Catalan football giants wish to increase capacity to 105,000 by the 2021-22 season.
The Japanese Nikken Sekkei company has been around for over 100 years and is one of Asia’s leading architectural and engineering studios. This company designed the Saitama Super Arena, the Big Swan Stadium in Niigata and the Tokyo Dome, all in Japan.
