Eric Wright Construction begins work on £4m school
Building firm Eric Wright Construction has begun work on a multi-million pound school scheme in Leeds.
The Preston-based company, which forms part of Eric Wright Group, is designing and building a new £4m home for Khalsa Science Academy.
The 22,302 sq ft facility, on Lingfield Drive in Alwoodley, will accommodate up to 420 primary school pupils once complete.
Eric Wright Construction’s MD, John Wilson, said: “This is a great opportunity for the school to start afresh and create purpose-built premises that meet the exact needs of staff and pupils.
“It’s always a pleasure to be involved in a project from design stage through to completion and these state-of-the-art facilities will enhance the technical skills and learning opportunities for future generations.”
The project, which includes design, demolition, planning and asbestos removal, is being funded by the Education Funding Agency (EFA).
Khalsa Science Academy’s chair of governors, Palvinder Singh, commented: “This is a historical moment giving us the opportunity to develop a school for the 21st Century.
“We are delighted to be working with Eric Wright and are making good progress to achieving our goal.”
