Fitness tech startup Membr targets global growth

Manchester tech startup Membr is targeting international growth after securing deals in new regions overseas.

The online gym management software provider currently works with a number of fitness chains in the UK, including Simply Gym, JD Gyms and Gymetc, but recent deals have expanded Membr’s client base across Europe, Australia, Malaysia and the US.

Membr’s founder and CEO, Jack Malin, said: “We have an exciting 2016 planned. With over half a million users already on the system, we’re entering new overseas markets and preparing to roll out our offering to fitness professionals and enthusiasts around the world.

“With the growing popularity of personal activity trackers and healthcare apps, fitness professionals are feeling the pressure to go digital.”

He added: “Membr connects gyms and personal trainers with their clients online, and makes it simple to share exercise plans, track health stats and take bookings and payments.”

Membr has teamed up with Manchester marketing agency Grain to drive its expansion plans.

The managing director at Grain, Richard Wood, commented: “We’ve been working with Membr to help grow their customer base in the UK for some time.

“They are a great client with a great product, and now we’re helping to catapult them into new markets.”

Richard continued: “Our aim is to help them enter new territories digitally, before having to put a sales team on the ground.”
