All in a Day's Work for Open Door
Newly launched Doncaster property business, Open Door, is riding high on the spring bounce and a buoyant property market, having sold a local home in just 24 hours in its first month of business.
The three-bed, semi-detached property in North East Doncaster had previously been on the market with a traditional estate agent for over four months - achieving just one viewing and no offers in that time. Hearing about the launch of Open Door and its modern approach to house sales servicing the local market, the sellers contacted owners, Alistair Boyd-Meaney and Lee Cowling, for help.
Within 24 hours of the property being listed, Open Door secured a viewing with an interested investor who bought it the same afternoon for £75,000 - £10,000 above the original asking price.
Alistair said: “We’re delighted with how business is going and have had an incredibly positive response so far. Selling or buying a property can be a hugely significant transaction, both emotionally and financially. People want to find someone they trust and that they can build a rapport with – something we are able to offer where traditional agents seem to have failed. In this case the owners were really unhappy with the performance of the previous agent, so to have achieved a sale for them within 24 hours was a brilliant result – for us and them. It is just the first of many demonstrations of what we can achieve for other sellers in the local area and spells good news for us as we head in to spring.”
Spring time means homeowners have a captive audience as potential buyers flood the market. In turn, there are also plenty of opportunities for them to quickly find a new home due to the number of properties that are put up for sale between March and May.
Open Door sells property via traditional estate agency and modern auctions, but specialises in the latter. Residential auctions are becoming an increasingly popular way to sell property, with recent trends showing that more and more vendors are taking “normal” houses to auction as they look for alternative routes to sale.
Open Door has a broad range of properties on its books ranging from £43,000 to over £400,000. The business will host a two-day ‘virtual auction’ on its website for potential house buyers to view and bid for online properties for sale from 30th to 31st March. Following that, a public auction will be held at a Doncaster venue in the summer.
Alistair added: “The perception of property auction has changed and people now understand that it can offer something for everyone. I think that’s evident from the properties we have listed online and included in our auction lots. We’re already building our portfolio for the summer auction now and look forward to bringing more lots on board.”
Alistair is an award-winning and professionally-qualified Business Development executive and entrepreneur, with a wide range of experience in senior and operational management, both within the private and public sector.
