Contract for care company brings Yorkshire jobs boost

A PIONEERING social enterprise is to create more than 300 jobs, after becoming a leading care provider across Leeds.

CASA Leeds, part of the Care and Share Associates Group – an employee owned social enterprise – has become one of four prime providers working in partnership with Leeds City Council, to provide a range of social care services.

And the major contract win means the organisation will now be looking for new employees to fill a whole host of roles.

A reorganisation by Leeds City Council on the way domiciliary care is provided led to a streamlining in the number of care companies that are directly commissioned by the local authority.

The quality-based decision means that CASA will now be extending its existing service to ensure that people are provided with a range of care services to support them to stay in their own homes and live independently.

“We are delighted to be selected by Leeds City Council to be one of their prime providers. This is the biggest contract we have won since we launched five years ago,” said Denise McEvoy, CASA Leeds’ Director of Care Services.

“It is also the fact that we won the contract on the quality of services we provide and we are very proud that our professionalism, compassion and reliability has been recognised by both the council and the Care Quality Commission.”

CASA is now looking to employ staff to cover a wide range of jobs, including care managers, co-ordinators, supervisors and home support workers.

It is embarking on a major recruitment drive and also wants to highlight that no previous experience is necessary for some of the posts.

“In many instances it is more about having the right kind of personality than having any formal qualifications,” said Denise McEvoy Jason Lane, Commissioning Manager for Adult Social Care said that CASA Leeds “is working together with Adult Social Care to further develop quality homecare in the city.”

“We are delighted to be introducing new ways of delivering home care in Leeds which we believe will provide better services for the people who use them and a good deal for the city,” he said.

“We look forward to working with CASA Leeds and other providers to make a success of the new contracts.”

CASA also has branches in Manchester, Knowsley, Warrington, North Tyneside and Newcastle, along with a sister company based in Sunderland.

“High quality care and support is all about the workforce,” said Dr Guy Turnbull, one of CASA’s founders, and Managing Director.

“What CASA has done is to find a way to tap into people’s natural creativity and commitment, by giving them a stake in their business and how it is operated to deliver high quality care.”
