Clinical Negligence team gains national recognition
Two members of the Clinical Negligence team at leading regional law firm, Higgs & Sons, have received national recognition for their outstanding legal achievements.
Clare Langford, a Partner, and Sue Allen, an Associate in the firm’s Clinical Negligence Team, have both been appointed to the specialist Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel. For Clare this is her second accreditation after first joining the panel five years ago.
The Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel is the quality mark for legal experts who can help when a healthcare professional has provided an individual with care that falls below an acceptable standard.
All Law Society clinical negligence legal experts go through a rigorous assessment process to demonstrate that they have a high level of knowledge, skills and experience in dealing with clinical negligence cases.
Ian Shovlin, Head of Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence at Higgs & Sons commented: “It is a huge achievement for both Clare and Sue to be recognised at the very top level in their field. They should both be proud of what they have achieved and the work they do for their clients every day.”
Clare and Sue regularly handle a large case load of clinical negligence claims, specialising in brain injury cases and in particular those involving children with cerebral palsy.
Clare said: “When something goes wrong with a medical procedure or treatment, patients need the very best legal advice and support.
“Higgs & Sons has achieved the Law Society’s Specialist Quality Mark for clinical negligence, providing reassurance to clients and recognising the high standard of legal experts within the Clinical Negligence department.
“We are also approved by the Legal Aid Agency to offer public funding on appropriate cases due to our expertise.”
In addition to her achievements within the Law Society, Sue has also recently achieved accreditation by CEDR as a certified mediator. Such accreditation enables Sue to act as a mediator in relation to a wide range of disputes, particularly those involving personal injuries and clinical negligence.
Clare said: “Sue’s appointment to the Law Society panel is testimony to her expertise and proficiency in dealing with clinical negligence claims, and her accreditation as a mediator means that she can offer her clients the skills and resources desperately needed to bring their claims to a successful resolution.”
Higgs & Sons is based in the heart of the Black Country at the Waterfront Business Park in Brierley Hill. The growing team boasts more than 100 specialist lawyers available to support clients in a comprehensive range of business and private sectors, including a team of seven dedicated Clinical Negligence specialists.
