Lodders Cheltenham supports local charity Cobalt
Lawyers at the Cheltenham office of Lodders Solicitors are supporting the town’s leading medical charity Cobalt, by again taking part in its annual fundraising ‘Make a Will’ scheme next month.
Lodders took part in the scheme for the first time in 2015, when it raised more than £3,400.
Founded in 1964, Cobalt is a charity dedicated to helping in disease prevention, research, treatment and diagnosis, and is recognised for making a real difference to the quality of life and the outcomes for those affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions.
Cobalt’s annual flagship fundraiser ‘Make a will month’ runs throughout April, and leading the scheme at Lodders once again this year is Associate Natalie Smith, a specialist in writing Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, probate and tax planning, and a fully qualified member of STEP, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Throughout April, Natalie will donate her time for free to draft straightforward Wills for Cobalt supporters, in return for a donation to the charity. She explains that Cobalt and its fundraising scheme has been chosen for both professional and personal reasons:
“Cobalt is a charity very close to my heart, as it has supported some of my own close family members and friends. I have seen first-hand the team’s amazing work, its ground-breaking facilities and cutting-edge technology, which deliver high quality diagnosis not available routinely within the NHS or private sectors.
“Cobalt provides an important service in Cheltenham and more widely across Gloucestershire and the region. In particular, it has been a major NHS partner in establishing the Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital and other health care facilities, such as the £5.1 million, all digital, Thirlestaine Breast Centre at Cobalt House.
“By taking part in Cobalt’s will month throughout April, we hope to work with the local community to raise important funds for Cobalt’s incredible service.”
Martin Green, Lodders’ Senior Partner and head of the Private Client Department, adds: “With recent statistics suggesting that more than 29 million of the UK’s adult population – that’s in the region of 60 percent – do not have a will, Cobalt’s will month presents Lodders with the opportunity to play a part in raising awareness of just how important it is to have a will that is both professionally written and up-to-date. It is also a timely reminder of the problems and issues that arise for loved ones left behind if you should die without a will.
“Will month gives us the chance to support a local charity that provides a vital service and important support in and around Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.”
